1. How effective do you think the Internet will be for Al Jazeera as it attempts to reach a U.S. audience?
I don’t think that Al Jazeera will be successful in reaching the U.S. audience. People of the U.S., I feel, are not likely to search for another country’s news over the more popular news that is already available in the U.S. that pertains more to what’s going on in our country. The station is also not well known.
2. Based on your own observations, do you think that Al Jazeera English should be allowed to broadcast in the U.S.?
I believe that free speech is very important and if people in the U.S. want to watch the news that Al Jazeera presents I don’t think they should be forced to stop because others don’t agree with the opinions of the station.
3. What, if anything, do you notice about Al Jazeera's approach to telling the news? How is it different than the U.S.-based TV news outlets that you have experienced?
To be honest I don’t particularly notice any major differences in the broadcasting styles of Al Jazeera as opposed to U.S. news.
4. While on the Al Jazeera site, be sure to check out the network's published Code of Ethics. Based on your own observations, do you think they are adhering to them?
From what I viewed of Al Jazeera they seem to be upholding their ethical stance. It seems as though they are adhering to their journalistic goals.
